Dropout of students in primary school from the perspective of teachers: Causes, consequences and solutions from the perspective of educational planning (case study: Bijar city)

Abstract

Aim: The present goal is to investigate the causes of dropout among students, analyze the causes of this phenomenon, and present solutions and consequences for reducing and reducing dropout in order to improve the level of education and sustainable development of society.
Methodology: To achieve the goal and answer the research questions, a critical paradigm, a qualitative approach, and a multi-case case study strategy were used. The data collection tool was a semi-structured in-depth interview. The research field included elementary school teachers in Bijar in the academic year 2024-2025, who were interviewed with the criterion of data saturation. Deductive-inductive tactics were used to analyze the data.
Results: The research findings were presented in the section on causes and root causes, consequences and strategies for reducing dropout, and indicate that dropout is a multifaceted phenomenon and includes individual, social and economic factors. Its consequences also have individual, social and economic aspects, and the proposed solutions are focused on various areas such as the family, the government and the educational system.
Conclusions : The results indicate that the reasons for students dropping out are multiple and complex, and include individual, family, and social factors such as lack of educational facilities and unequal conditions. Suggested solutions include changes in family attitudes and management, government policies, and improving the educational environment and approaches of teachers and school counselors.
Innovation and originality: This research aimed to identify the causes and consequences of student dropout and provide solutions to reduce it. By shedding light on the phenomenon of dropout from the perspective of teachers and by collecting qualitative data through interviews with experienced teachers, the present research has achieved a comprehensive understanding of the dimensions of this issue and the challenges of facing it. By providing practical and effective solutions, it is an attempt to equip the educational system with effective tools to deal with this problem and ensure a brighter future for students.
