Abstract

The present study aims to design and validate the transformational university model; with the antecedents, processes and consequences being carried out at Farhangian University in Iran. The research was practical in its purpose and mixed exploratory (qualitative-quantitative) in its nature. The Grounded theory research method was used in qualitative approach to develop a conceptual model based on the perceptions of the university’s faculty members, while the structural equation method was used in the quantitate stage. A total of 16 faculty members from Farhangian University were selected through purposeful sampling and interviewed, considering the principles of saturation and maximum variation. Data analysis in the qualitative stage was done through open, axial, and selective coding techniques, and while SPSS 26 and LISREL software were used in the quantitative stage.
The results showed that, based on the coding of 98 semantic units (open code), 9 categories with 3 main themes (antecedents, processes, and consequences) of the transformational university were identified and named, which were confirmed through the opinions of higher education experts. In the quantitative stage, the research indicated that the antecedents of the transformational university had a significant impact on the processes of the transformational university (scientism, professionalism, and transformational leadership). The results also showed that the processes of the transformational university have a significant effect on the consequences of the transformational university (creating transformation in the university, facilities and structure, human resources, and individual and community consequences).
