Analysing the Policies of the Industry and University Relations in Iran: : Developing a New Model

Abstract

Abstract
Universities and industry in the world today are important factors in the development of any society. Therefore, the relationship between these two institutions is something that has been increasingly considered by policymakers and planners of countries. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between university and industry. For this purpose, using the method of grounded theory, this issue was investigated. The tools used in the research were in-depth interviews. Participants in the study included 12 managers of the departments of university relations, research and development and education in industry and managers of departments of industry relations and professors, students who had collaborated with industry in the university in the form of theoretical examples, purposefully and were selected and interviewed by snowball sampling method. In order to analyze the data, coding and categorization methods were used. The results of this study showed that despite many efforts to improve the relationship between academia and industry, however, the relationship between these two institutions in the country is not effective and efficient enough. Finally, a model for improving the relationship between academia and industry in the country is presented.
